Chéticamp Harbour

Chéticamp Harbour
Photo 14 of 25: Chéticamp Harbour
Taken 2006 August 6 from Lighthouse Road on Chéticamp Island
from its southern end across from La Plage St-Pierre
GPS 46°36.255'N 61°02.177'W

This view looks north straight down the full length of Chéticamp Harbour, along which the businesses and residences of Chéticamp are strung like a strand of pearls, and beyond! What a gorgeous site Chéticamp has and what a beautiful day this was!

L’Église St-Pierre sits just right of the middle of this photo and one can see all the way down the western coast to beyond Red Head! Notice too how La Grande Falaise is visible here to the left of l’Église St-Pierre and how the mountains cut off Chéticamp from the interior of Cape Breton Island, where one finds in this area an uninhabited high plateau with many bogs and ravines carved over the æons by glaciers, brooks, and streams, very similar to what one sees driving along the Cabot Trail from the top of French Mountain to MacKenzies Mountain.
