This view is the downstream view of the Mabou River from the Cèilidh Trail (Highway 19); one can see a long ways! Given the slight twists in the river, one can not see quite all the way to the mouth, but Indian Point and Sams Point are both visible here in the distance. At night, the lights at the wharf in Mabou Harbour Mouth light up the sky in the distance.

The main course of the river is to the left of the dockage seen here, where it flows under the Mabou River Bridge, just outside this picture’s scope. St Marys Church is to the right of this photo and also outside its scope, sitting on a hill overlooking the river.

In the fall, the colours seen along the river from this vantage point are often spectacular. It is always worth a stop any time of the year for the fine views it offers of the river in both directions and of the village.
