At several points along the CMTC trail system, interpretative panels, such as this one, are provided to instruct the hiker on local history, birds, flowers, etc., enhancing the enjoyment of the surrounding area. Many of the panels, including this one, bear illustrations by Peter Rankin, a noted artist and illustrator living in Mabou Coal Mines. This panel is situated at the col above the white bridge where the Trap à Mhathain (Bear Trap) Trail and the Oir à Ghlinne (Edge of the Valley) Trail meet the Cul Na Beinne (Beyond the Mountain) Trail. The presence of these panels is just one more example of the attention to detail demonstrated by those who have built this wonderful trail system.
