Middle Head from the Stanley Point Look-Off (Part One)

The photos on this page and the next sweep from east of north to west of northwest, looking at the majestic views at one’s feet from God’s balcony. What an incredible panorama!

St Paul Island lies in the far distance at the far right of the photo. The Atlantic coast to the north is in the centre of the photo, receding to the horizon. At centre right is Ingonish Island; at the far left is Ingonish village; the cliffs along Bear Cove to Red Head extend from the left to the centre of the photo; the eastern end of Middle Head lies in the centre of the photo, dividing North Bay Ingonish behind it from South Bay Ingonish in front of it.

This view a bit west of north is a continuation of the previous view, moving to the left (westward). The mountains at the far horizon are at the north end of Cape Breton Island; it is the height of the Stanley Point Look-Off which allows them to be seen above the nearer Cape Breton Highlands, which run across the middle of the photo. Ingonish lies along the shore in the middle of the photo; MacLeods Point and the cliffs along Bear Cove are to the right of Ingonish. Middle Head separates South Bay Ingonish from North Bay Ingonish.

This view further to the northwest is a continuation of the previous view, moving to the left. Middle Head still lies in the foreground with the Cape Breton Highlands behind on the far side of North Bay Ingonish; more of the mountains at the northern tip of Cape Breton Island are visible here.
