Archives

This page of my web site describes all of the archived programs available on the Internet of which I am aware that would be of interest to aficionados of traditional Scottish music as played in Cape Breton. These are recorded programs previously broadcast that have been permanently archived and are available for listening at any time.

If you know of any Internet resources that are not listed in this area of my web site that should be, please let me know using the feedback address in the footer below.

Comment
These archived shows contain some fine music and give a good idea of the content of the weekly program Aiseirigh nan Gàidheal (The Awakening Gaels) simulcast on CKJM (see also the program entry).

Cape Breton Live

URL

Description
Live recordings made at Cape Breton house parties, cèilidhs, concerts, and square dances.
Comment
Recorded mostly in 2005-2006, this site was on hiatus in recent years until a reasonable fee was worked out with SOCAN in early 2009 that allowed the site to put its archived shows back on line. All of the old shows are there as of this writing, so you have forty-eight hour-long shows from which to choose! There are also four YouTube videos linked on the site’s Videos page. When you can’t be in Cape Breton, listening to these shows is the next best thing!
Note
If you enjoy these shows, please seriously consider contributing to their continuing availability on the internet by making a donation and by buying from the on-line store the recordings of the artists who allow their work to be included in these shows without charge. These shows and their web site are a joint labour of love for those who produce them and for the musicians who play in them, but they need our help to pay for the bandwidth, keep the site afloat, and fund the recording and editing of new shows.
