The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association. We owe these dedicated volunteers a huge vote of thanks for the work they do in passing the music on to future generations and keeping it alive and vibrant in the community at large. It is nothing less than astounding to observe the now numerous very capable young fiddlers thriving in areas of Cape Breton where the music had all but died out a generation ago. The many youth performers heard during this concert testify to the skills they have honed, in no small part as a result of the Association’s work and encouragement under the direction of these dedicated board members.
Those board members in attendance at the festival are shown in the photos on this page as they gathered on stage at the beginning of the tribute to the association members who passed on this year. Left to right in the first photo are Bob MacEachern, Eddie Rodgers, Burton MacIntyre, Steve MacNeil, Janet Cameron, Mary MacNeil, Julia MacKenzie, Isabel MacGillivray, Betty Matheson, Trina Samson, Pauline Davis, and Leanne Aucoin. Missing are Father Eugene Morris and Blair Mombourquette, both in Newfoundland the day of the concert, and Frank MacInnis.
