The roiling waters of the First Pool here sparkle in the sun; the brown colours are submerged bedrock relatively close to the surface, while the darker colours mark the much deeper waters of the pool itself. The thirteenth photo of the Chéticamp River photo essay shows a predominant bright blue colour reflecting the sky, but the left of that photo shows darker hues because the steep mountainside rising on the opposite bank, which reflects a dark green colour that overpowers the bright blue of the sky. This photo’s view is slightly upriver of the essay’s thirteenth photo’s view and here the hues are mostly dark green.
