This beautiful day, I was on the Highway 252 side of the river taking pictures of the main channel, as I had discovered that I had few in my collection and had made a note that I needed more. I heard some squawking in the air and looked up to see this eagle fishing. He wasn’t having a lot of luck and made a number of passes, flying downstream to the first bridge, turning around, flying back over the land out of sight, and then making another pass down the river. After I caught the pattern of his movements, I sat down on the river bank in a place with a good open view to the sky to patiently try for a better shot than the poor ones I had gotten on the fly, so to speak. I was eventually rewarded with this fine shot as he flew overhead. I think he soon after did find his meal, as he made only one more pass after this shot, after which I saw him no more.
