Sixteen minutes beyond the fourth look-off, one reaches the fifth look-off which is now at the height of the Cape Smokey plateau, 280 m (925 ft). Given the added height and a position slightly further east, one is even better situated here than at the fourth look-off. The views are simply spectacular! This photo was done with the widest-angle my camera allows, but it’s still only a small fraction of the entire panorama that spreads out before one. This look-off definitely has the best views of this scene of any of the look-offs.
Notice the very sparse vegetation visible on the edge and sides of the cliff at the right of the photo. If naught else, that fire was thorough!
