The Gulf of St Lawrence is shining blue under a nearly pure blue sky to the left of the Beinn Bhiorach summit. The amount of climbing needed is pretty clear from this shot, since it’s mostly level hiking back to the Cape Mabou Trail Head: only a very short ascent is necessary to reach the height of Beinn Bhiorach. Unfortunately, one has to go down a bit before one reaches the col in the next photo, so the ascent is actually a little more than appears here. This is one of the fine vistas from the Highland Forest Trail. Beinn Bhiorach means ”steep mountain” in Gaelic and this photo shows that it is aptly named.
