Photo #1, taken a bit after the first three photos on the previous page at Glencoe Mills, looks a bit west of south from the Rear Intervale Road (also known as the Judique Intervale Road) in Hillsdale towards the back country to the east of Judique. Given the irregular light, it is hard to tell how far along the colours are in this photo, since the areas not lit by the sun do not reveal their true colours.
The little red tree in the foreground, however, seen close up in photo #2, is beaming brightly in the sun; notice the unchanged green leaves at its top and some mixed red/green colouration in the leaves below the top. As photo #1 shows, its immediate neighbours on either side hadn’t changed in the least, so this one was an early changer, ready and eager to try on its new fall clothes!

Photo #3 is a close-up of the trees at the edge of the field, taken when the sun was hitting some of them full on. The ridge beyond, bereft of direct light, looks largely unchanged, though light equal to that on the trees in the middle ground might require reässessing that evaluation. While there are a few bright reds scattered here and there, yellows and greens predominate in the areas lit by the sun.
