Here one sees the Southwest Mabou River directly at the base of the slanted rock face in the second previous photo as it gets ready to pass under the steel railway bridge. At this point, it seems to be relatively shallow, with many rocks visible above or just below the water’s surface.
As one sits on the bridge and enjoys the surroundings, the river’s song as it flows over the rocks adds greatly to the enchantment. On this particular day, an eagle flew overhead, looking for lunch in the river or the adjacent marshy area, but disappeared behind the hill when it saw me on the bridge, unfortunately before I could get my camera ready to take its photo.
