The west coast of Inverness County is justly known for its fine sunsets. This brilliant one reflected light back along a long cloud line, seen running across this photo, as far to the east as one could see (the hill rising behind the look-off obscures the view to the east). Notice, too, how the water picks up the colours in the sky in a subdued, understated way.
Another great sunset occurred on the 13th of October, when it coloured the whole sky off Inverness Beach a red orange that shaded off into pinks and yellows; I had a very difficult time choosing between photos of the two and finally opted for this one because of the greater variety of colours it shows. Like the colours of the leaves, these sunset colours are also fall colours and, for me at least, a cause of equal enjoyment.
