This photo conveys the flavour of the delta at the mouth of the Southwest Mabou River, showing both the meanders of the river and the multiplicity of the channels through the delta. Notice the disturbance in the placid water at the right of the photo, evidence that something living has just been on the move. A few minutes’ observation here will always turn up something interesting, whether it be gulls, eagles, ducks, frogs, or other marsh inhabitants.

Taken in the fall during the Celtic Colours festival, the spring green colours of the marsh grasses seen in earlier photos have here been largely replaced by yellows and browns, though the trees below the ridge on which Hunters Road lies have only barely begun to change theirs.
