Sunday Concert Pictures

The Sunday concert, emceed by Wendy Bergfeldt and Bob MacEachern, began at 14h and lasted until 20h, with a few, very welcome, intervening short breaks. I arrived early this time and got a very good seat in the front row. There were the inevitable problems with microphones and music stands getting between my camera and the performers, which occur no matter where one is seated. The camera performed fairly well, but, after having taken some two hundred pictures, was low on battery power towards the end, which accounts for the less bright pictures towards the end of the concert. Unfortunately, under conditions I do not understand well, but which include low lighting requiring the camera’s flash and relatively high humidity in an enclosed area, the camera irritatingly generates artifacts which show up as visible “bubbles” in some of the photos; I have been able to remove most of these using iPhoto’s retouch tool, but some were in critical areas and could not be completely hidden—it is becoming more and more obvious to me that I need a better camera for indoor photography. As well, the sun tardily came out late in the afternoon and disrupted the stage lighting inside, streaming through skylights at the left of the stage and washing out some faces. So, again, take these photos for what they are: my best attempt to capture what was going on at a live event, not professional photographs.

My apologies to Lem Chaisson for not having a photograph of his performance; I am not quite sure how that happened, but I noted his performance in my notebook and then somehow failed to also photograph it.

Moreover, I did not get all of the names and I apologize in advance to those whose names I have shown as question marks, mis-heard, or misspelled. Thanks to Sharon and Allan Cameron for supplying me with a number of the missing names and for correcting my misspellings and to Don MacPhee for confirming the identifications of the Glengarry Fiddlers.
