The Third Pool

The Third Pool lies between exposed bedrock on the northern shore and a cliff face on the southern shore in the lower right foreground of this photo; the falls behind it can be seen in the centre of the photo. The trees cling to the cliff face, which is obscured here by the angle of the sun, seemingly hanging over the edge.

The river takes a nearly 90° turn here, winding between the mountain flanks on both sides. There is plenty of exposed bedrock on the north side of the river that allows one, with some care, to approach closer to the falls.
