On the eastern edge of Whycocomagh. travelling west on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 105), you will see on the left the sign and the driveway for the Provincial Picnic Park (the Provincial Park where the hiking trail to Salt Mountain and the camp sites are located is on the right side of the Trans-Canada Highway). Once you enter the Picnic Park and drive half way around the access road, you will see stairs which lead down to the shore, where this photo was taken. The views it affords of Whycocomagh Bay are quite fine.
The church one sees in the middle of the photo is St Andrews Presbyterian Church. To its left is the older part of the village, which continues to the left outside this photo’s scope; with the advent of the Trans-Canada Highway, most businesses on the back streets along the shore have moved to locations directly along the highway. The Whycocomagh Education Centre, whose auditorium is used for summer concerts and the Celtic Colours concert, is located further down the shore to the left, outside this view.
