This view looks across West Bay to the southeast, where a motor boat is crossing its waters, leaving a photogenic wake. The Nova Scotia Atlas names the mountain across the bay South Mountain. It is difficult to make out, but the Bras d’Or Lakes scenic drive follows along the south side of the bay bordered by the occasional dwelling.
Marble Mountain is the site of a marble and limestone quarry, whose history is nicely described on this web page. A museum in the village also presents its history.
