I regret that I forgot to write down the distance from the start of Highway 247 to the spot where I stopped for this photo; I drove directly from the southern end of St Peters Canal National Historic Site to this spot, a distance of 3 km (1.9 mi), so it is not very far down Highway 247.
This view is a bit north of due west and shows St Peters Bay in the foreground with the Jerome Point Lighthouse at Battery Provincial Park in the centre of the photo and the houses of St Peters along Highway 4 on the other side of the bay. The entrance to St Peters Canal is on the west (far) side of the lighthouse. Mount Granville rises at the right of the photo; Fort Dorchester is at the summit of Mount Granville, approximately at the far right. South Mountain is at the horizon, running off towards the southwest.
